SEARK Golf Closes Fall Season with Momentum and Optimism
The SEARK Golf Team wrapped up the fall season on a strong note, finishing fifth overall at the CBC Fall Invitational while laying the foundation for a promising spring.
Southeast Arkansas College's Golf Team continues to make strides both on and off the course. Competing at the CBC Fall Invitational, the Sharks finished 5th place overall, an impressive result for one of the youngest teams in the tournament — composed entirely of freshmen and one sophomore.
Out of more than 50 golfers, SEARK's team showed competitive consistency, led by Ikvir Bhasin (11th place), Tervel Chakarov (24th place), and Noah Alderson (29th place).
Head Coach Rieke Stewart praised his team's growth and commitment throughout the fall.
"Our players have bought into the process," said Stewart. "They've been in the weight room getting stronger, putting in extra hours on the range, and showing up ready to work every day. For such a young group, the maturity they've shown is really exciting to see."
Beyond performance, Stewart emphasized the importance of culture and leadership. "We talk a lot about building something bigger than golf," he said. "These guys have volunteered in campus clean-up projects, participated in community efforts, and supported other SEARK athletic programs. That's the kind of bond that carries over when we step onto the course."
As the team transitions into the offseason, Stewart is optimistic about what's ahead. "This fall was about building confidence and learning to compete," he added. "Now we're focused on taking that next step. Our goal is to come back stronger in the spring and make a serious run at the District Tournament."
President Dr. Tyrone Jackson commended the team's effort, noting, "Coach Stewart and the Golf Team are setting a great example for SEARK Athletics. Their teamwork, sportsmanship, and service to the college community show what it truly means to be part of Shark Nation."
With steady progress and a growing sense of unity, the SEARK Golf Team looks poised for a breakout spring season.
