SEARK Baseball loses at home to Northeast Texas CC
The bats were hot Monday at Relyance Bank Center – Eddie Bryan Field, but SEARK Sharks Spring ’26 came up short against Northeast Texas Community College in a high-scoring matchup.
Northeast Texas set the tone early, capitalizing on SEARK miscues and timely hitting to build a big lead in the opening inning. They continued to apply pressure in the following frames, highlighted by a pair of home runs that helped stretch the advantage even further.
SEARK answered with flashes of power of their own. Gonzalez launched a solo shot to left, and Backstrom added a home run later in the game to spark the offense. Backstrom and Gonzalez each turned in multi-hit performances, while Backstrom, Gardner, and Gonzalez all drove in runs. Cesari Blanco showed patience at the plate, leading a disciplined approach that saw the Sharks draw several walks.
On the mound, Tizzano started for SEARK before Cutrer provided steady relief work, limiting further damage and keeping the Sharks competitive down the stretch.
Northeast Texas finished with a strong offensive showing, collecting hits throughout the lineup and driving in runs with timely swings. They were also sharp defensively, playing error-free baseball.
SEARK Sharks Spring ’26 will look to bounce back when they return home Friday to face Life Prep Academy Post Grad.
