SEARK Names Ed Corniel Head Baseball Coach
A familiar face to Shark Nation, Ed Corniel takes the helm of SEARK Baseball after helping lead one of the most productive offenses in program history.
Ed Corniel, a New York native, brings proven player development and recruiting experience to his role as Head Baseball Coach at Southeast Arkansas College. He earned an associate's degree in Sports Management and Individual Studies from Jefferson Community College in 2020 and a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Olivet in 2022.
As a player at the NJCAA Division III level, Corniel won the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Award in 2016, hit .347 with 32 RBIs, and anchored his team defensively.
Corniel's coaching path includes the Community Health Academy of the Heights in New York, Southwest Virginia Community College as a Recruiting Coordinator, and the University of Olivet, where he worked with all defensive units and coached first base. Most recently he served as SEARK's Hitting Coach, helping guide one of the most productive offenses in program history. The Sharks finished fifth nationally in team batting average at .356 and reached the first regional appearance in school history.
"Coach Ed has been an integral part of SEARK Baseball in our first two seasons," said Athletic Director Chad Kline. "We are happy to elevate him to Head Coach. He embodies our standard of development, discipline, and competitive excellence on and off the field."
Corniel is known for a player-first approach, strong defensive acumen, and a clear plan to build a championship-caliber culture at SEARK.
